An earthquake of magnitude 6-7 occurred in Armenia


Armenian seismologists have recorded a magnitude 6-7 earthquake in northern Armenia, 6 km from the town of Spitak in Lori province. This was announced on March 8 by the rescue service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country.
It is specified that the underground seismic activity was recorded at 9:26 (8:26 Moscow time).
"The force of the earthquake in the epicentral zone was 6-7 points," the agency's website says.
According to the country's Interior Ministry, the earthquake was felt in Lori, Shirak and Tavush regions with a magnitude of 4-6, Kotayk, Gegharkunik and Aragatsotn regions with a magnitude of 2-4. There is no information about casualties or damage.
A magnitude 4.6 earthquake was recorded in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China on March 7. The epicenter was located at a distance of approximately 366 km from the state border of Kazakhstan.
