Soviet troops reached the Austrian border

On March 29, the troops of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, as a result of a rapid offensive, captured the towns and important junctions of the Sombatel and Kapuvar roads and, having occupied the city of Keseg, reached the Austrian border, the Izvestia newspaper said.
There were exactly 41 days left until the Great Victory.
In honor of the victory, the formations and units that most distinguished themselves in these battles are presented with orders.
"Today, on March 29, at 22 o'clock, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, salutes the valiant troops of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, who captured these cities, with 20 artillery volleys from 224 guns," the newspaper says.
The material was published as part of the Izvestia special project "80 days to Victory."
