Soviet troops captured strongholds in Silesia
On March 27, the troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front, continuing their offensive, captured the towns of Strehlen and Rybnik in Silesia, major road junctions and strong German defense strongholds, the Izvestia newspaper writes.
"Today, on March 27, at 21 o'clock, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, salutes the valiant troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front, who captured the cities of Strelen and Rybnik, with 12 artillery volleys from 124 guns," the publication said.
There were exactly 43 days left until the Great Victory.
In commemoration of the victory, it was decided to present the formations and units that had distinguished themselves most in the battles for the award of orders.
The material was published as part of the Izvestia special project "80 days to Victory."
