In 2025, the pension will be granted only to Russians who have postponed their retirement, and to a privileged category of citizens, including citizens with long work experience, mothers with many children, workers in harmful industries and Russians. Senator Olga Epifanova announced this on Friday, March 8.

"It is expected that due to the peculiarities of the transitional period of pension reform in 2025, no one will retire on a general basis. However, this provision does not apply to persons who voluntarily postponed retirement. In addition, this does not apply to representatives of privileged categories," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

So, according to Epifanova, women and men of retirement age — 59 years and 64 years, respectively — will be able to retire only next year.

Representatives of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North and workers in creative professions also have the opportunity to retire early.

In such cases, it is important to strictly comply with the age requirements and the availability of special and insurance guards, the parliamentarian stressed.

In addition, Epifanova said that mothers with many children with three children can retire at 57, with four at 56, and with five or more at 50.

Earlier, on March 6, Galina Morozova, Chairman of the Board of Directors of NPF Future, told Izvestia that the return of the "frozen" part of mandatory pension insurance (OPS) pensions could be a key step for the development of the long-term savings program and significantly affect the pension fund market. According to the expert, the return of funds to citizens will not only restore access to their savings, but also give an impetus to attract new funds to pension funds.
