Heavy rains in the Argentine port city of Bahia Blanca have killed six people and caused severe flooding. This was announced on Friday, March 7, according to the Reuters edition.

Local media reported that heavy rains were washing cars off the streets, felling trees and leaving hundreds of people without electricity. Meteorologists have warned that the weather forecast is disappointing. Scientists expect a new storm front to hit. In just a few hours, more than 200 mm of precipitation fell in the area.

The Argentine government and the provincial government announced a rescue operation to help the victims.

Earlier, on January 5, it was reported that more than 9 thousand people were left without electricity due to gale force winds that came to the Canadian Atlantic province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Weather conditions led to the delay of several flights at St. John's International Airport, Gander Airport and Deer Lake Regional Airport.
