Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa called for the adoption of the Palestinian-Egyptian plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip as a joint Arab-Islamic initiative. This was reported on March 7 by the WAFA news agency.

"We will make every effort to ensure the successful implementation of the reconstruction plan, not only as the basis for restoring the lives of our people in Gaza and all of Palestine, but also as the basis for launching our efforts to free ourselves from the clutches of occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state on its national soil," the newspaper quoted Mustafa as saying. He made the remarks during a speech at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

In addition, the Palestinian Prime Minister called for efforts to mobilize international support, as well as to increase political, diplomatic, legal and economic pressure on Israel until the Palestinian people regain their full legitimate rights, crowned with freedom and sovereignty over the territory of the region.

According to Mustafa, the plan prepared by Cairo is the basis for the creation of the State of Palestine, including its institutions and economy.

Earlier, on March 4, the participants of the Arab League (LAS) summit on Palestine in their final declaration appealed to the UN Security Council with a request to send peacekeepers to the Gaza Strip and the West Bank of the Jordan River. Also, during the emergency summit, the participants unanimously adopted a resolution proposed by Egypt on the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
