Russian composer Gennady Banshchikov died at the age of 82.

Russian composer Gennady Banshchikov died at the age of 82. This was announced on March 7 by the St. Petersburg Union of Composers on the VKontakte social network.

"It is with deep regret that we inform you that Gennady Ivanovich Banshchikov died on March 7, 2025 at the age of 82 after a long illness," the press service of the community informed.

Banshchikov is known as a composer, professor at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory, Honored Artist of the RSFSR and recipient of the Order of Friendship.
