US President Donald Trump said that it is more difficult for the American side to interact with Ukraine than with Russia, which holds "all the cards." He made this statement on March 7 at a briefing at the White House.

This is how Trump answered the question of whether he trusts the statements of Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding his readiness to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.

"I believe him. I think we are doing very well with Russia. <...> To be honest, it is becoming more and more difficult for me to deal with Ukraine. And they don't have cards," the politician said.

He noted that it would take a long time to reach a final settlement. Trump also said he was not sure if Ukraine was ready to end the conflict with Russia.

"I do not know if they want to solve the problem. If it turns out that they don't want to, then we won't participate in it anymore," he warned.

Earlier in the day, Trump said that Ukraine would have to make a peace deal because it had no choice. During a conversation with reporters, he said that his administration had made "great progress" in recent days in relations with Ukraine and Russia.
