The United States is considering the possibility of strengthening sanctions against Russia until a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine is reached. This was announced on March 7 by US President Donald Trump.

"I am strongly considering the possibility of introducing large-scale reforms...> sanctions and duties against Russia until the ceasefire is reached and a final peace agreement is reached," he wrote on the Truth Social network.

He also called on Russia and Ukraine to come to the negotiating table.

The Reuters news agency reported on March 3 that the White House is studying plans for a possible lifting of sanctions against Russia. According to sources, the agencies are currently preparing a proposal to lift restrictions on certain legal entities and individuals so that U.S. representatives can discuss it with their Russian counterparts in the coming days as part of negotiations to improve diplomatic and economic relations.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov recalled on March 4 that so far no one in the US administration has made official statements that Washington is going to lift sanctions against Moscow.
