MTS talked about the dynamics of Internet traffic in the Moscow metro

The Bolshaya Koltsevaya Line is the leader in the growth of Internet traffic in the Moscow Metro. The volume of data traffic in the MTS network on BCL increased by 27% in 2024, which is higher than the growth rate of traffic in the entire metropolitan subway, the press service of MTS PJSC reported.

On BKL, subscribers "download" an average of 170 TB per week. The Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line with a traffic volume of 165 TB per week, which led the ranking of the busiest lines a year earlier, dropped to second place.

Last year, Kurskaya station of the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line, Tverskaya station of the Zamoskvoretskaya line and Victory Park station of the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya and Solntsevskaya lines were the leaders in terms of LTE traffic. Arbatskaya of the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line and Kurskaya of the Ring Line took the fourth and fifth places.

"The development of telecom infrastructure in the Moscow Metro is one of MTS' priority projects. Given the importance of ubiquitous high—quality communications in the metro, we are not only expanding our network at new stations, but also using modern technologies and solutions to increase capacity in all existing segments and sections," said Dmitry Rylov, Vice President and Director of the MTS Moscow region.

In 2024, the number of subscribers in the Moscow metro increased by 7%. Most of all, the number of passengers arriving from abroad increased by a quarter. Belarus and China accounted for 11% of the total number of foreign visitors, 9% came from Kazakhstan, 8% from the UAE and 6% from Uzbekistan.

At the same time, the number of subscribers from the regions of Russia increased by 15%. Residents of St. Petersburg (8% of the total number of guests from Russian regions), Rostov-on-Don and Nizhny Novgorod (4% each), Vladimir and Kazan (3% each) used the metro most often.
