Outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau burst into tears during his press conference in Ottawa. The details were reported by the Daily Mail on March 7.

"I put Canadians first and supported them every day, and that's why I'm here to tell you all.: We will support you, even in the last days of this government. We will not let Canadians down today and in the future," he said.

Trudeau also added that he was looking forward to handing over power to a new leader in the coming days or weeks.

According to the newspaper, the prime minister's tears were caused, among other things, by the "tariff war" unleashed by US President Donald Trump against Canada.

It is specified that on March 9, the Liberal Party of Canada must choose a new leader, since Trudeau is resigning due to disagreements over his leadership, including in his own faction. After that, national elections will be held in the country.

On March 4, Trump threatened Canada with an increase in duties in the event of retaliatory measures against tariffs from the United States. On the same day, Trudeau called Washington's imposition of tariffs the beginning of a trade war against Ottawa. He also announced the introduction by Canada of duties of 25% on imports from the United States worth $125 billion in 21 days.
