- Tusk allowed Poland to withdraw from the convention on the prohibition of anti-personnel mines

Poland is considering withdrawing from the Ottawa Convention on the Prohibition of anti-personnel Mines and the Dublin Convention on Cluster Munitions. This was announced on March 7 by Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a speech at the Polish Sejm.
"I have asked the head of the Ministry of Defense to provide his opinion. I will recommend <...> that Poland withdraw from the Ottawa Convention and, possibly, from the Dublin Convention," he said.
Tusk noted that all of Poland's neighbors have both types of weapons. In these circumstances, Warsaw itself should use all available means to ensure its security.
Earlier, on November 30, Finnish President Alexander Stubb also allowed the country to withdraw from the Ottawa Convention on the Prohibition of anti-personnel mines. He attributed the possible solution to the fact that the world has changed markedly since the signing of the document in 1999.
