The dog handler talked about ways to boost the dog's immunity.

Taking care of a dog's health is a responsible task for any owner. On March 11, Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation, told Izvestia about how to increase the immunity of a pet.
"It is important for dog breeders to be attentive to this issue, because it is easier to take preventive measures than to treat an animal," he said.
First of all, the expert advised timely vaccination of the animal. According to him, there are many myths connected with this. For example, many people think that if a dog doesn't walk much on the street, then he doesn't need vaccinations. In addition, some people believe that small dogs do not need to be given the entire dose of the vaccine.
"The main goal of vaccination is the formation of immune memory, it is not only a matter of a single animal, but also the creation of population immunity, which reduces the likelihood of infectious outbreaks. Timely vaccination will help you strengthen your pet's immunity and protect it from dangerous, including fatal, diseases," Golubev emphasized.
The cynologist called high-quality nutrition the key to strong immunity. According to him, the diet should meet the physiological characteristics of the dog and replenish its energy. Golubev also warned pet owners against self-prescribing vitamins to their pet. Consultation with a veterinarian is necessary, as even the safest, but improperly selected dietary supplements can be harmful, he explained.
The dog handler also noted that it is important for dogs to move a lot. It is important to set aside time every day for full-fledged walks, joint sports and games.
In addition, he called for preventive measures against worms, as well as treating the dog from fleas and ticks. The presence of these parasites can cause intoxication and decreased immunity, which can cause the animal to pick up infections and viruses.
"In order for your pet to trust you, adhere to the established rules, encourage good behavior, pay attention to the dog and never punish her physically. A healthy environment in which the dog is not subject to constant stress has a positive effect on the pet's immunity," concluded Golubev.
On March 1, Zhanna Kashtanova, a specialist of the online veterinary service KotZdorov, told Izvestia about the peculiarities of pet care in the spring. She advised gradually increasing the length of walks and balancing the pet's diet. You can also support your pet's immunity with vitamins, but first you need to consult a veterinarian.
