Amber heart with "declaration of love" found near Kaliningrad

A unique "amber heart", combining shades of royal white, matte yellow and transparent, was discovered at the Rostec Amber Plant. This was announced by the press service of the amber plant on Friday, March 7.

A stone with a heart-shaped pattern was found just before March 8th. Anna Dugina, a gemologist at the Kaliningrad Amber Plant, noted the rarity of the discovered sample.

"The most interesting thing here, in my opinion, is that in a relatively small piece — 19 with a small gram — we see a combination of three main shades of our popular Baltic amber, as the most valuable royal white, honey yellow and transparent. This combination is extremely unusual and makes up no more than 1% of the samples," the specialist noted.

According to her, such a combination of shades can be called a joke of nature, a surprise. The process of stone formation took place in a still liquid, uncured state 40-50 million years ago, she continued, and the unique combination helped to create an unusual "declaration of love" — a multi-layered heart.
