Canadian Senator Patrick Brazeau challenged the son of US President Donald Trump Jr. to a charity boxing match amid the imposition of US duties.

"Dear Trump Jr., <...> in light of these stupid duties of [US] President Donald Trump <...>, I challenge you to a fight to raise money for cancer research or for an organization of your choice," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Brazeau stressed that he would fight for his country and added that the fight had nothing to do with Americans or the United States. In an interview with CBC News, he stated that his challenge is "100 percent serious."

On March 4, Trump threatened Canada with an increase in duties in the event of retaliatory measures against tariffs from the United States. On the same day, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called Washington's imposition of tariffs the beginning of a trade war against Ottawa. He also announced the introduction by Canada of duties of 25% on imports from the United States worth $125 billion in 21 days.
