In the Kaluga region, rescue service personnel rescued 17 fishermen from an ice floe that broke away from the shore. This was announced on March 7 by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Telegram channel.
"There was a break in the ice field on the Oka River, where there were fishermen. 17 people remained on the ice floe <...>. Two tried to reach the shore on their own, one of them fell into the water," the ministry said in a statement.
It was clarified that the failed man was rescued and taken to shore. The other fishermen were also safely rescued. There were no fatalities or injuries.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations noted that 16 pieces of equipment were involved, including two watercraft and 40 employees.
Earlier, on January 30, two men died on Lake Baikal after falling into the water in a car. They went fishing in a UAZ car, and after a while they stopped contacting each other. It was clarified that rescuers found a sunken car 70 m from the shore. There were men's bodies inside.
