Over the past day, 245 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 35 people were killed and 305 injured. Six of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on Friday, March 7, by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry.

As a result of 93 accidents involving pedestrians, six people were killed, and another 90 were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 16 child pedestrians, seven of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 41 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 52 outside their area of operation.

On Thursday, 17 bus accidents were recorded, in which seven people were killed, and another 28 road users needed medical attention. 12 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.

So, in the Volgograd region at night on 590 km of the federal highway R-228 "Syzran — Saratov — Volgograd", the driver of an interregional bus with seven passengers in the cabin crashed into a truck parked in the course of traffic (partially on the side of the road), which stopped due to a technical malfunction. The truck driver's emergency stop sign was displayed in accordance with the procedure established by the traffic regulations. As a result of the incident, one bus passenger was killed, six more passengers were injured and ended up in hospital.

The State Traffic Inspectorate appealed to bus drivers, reminding them that the life and health of their passengers during transportation depend entirely on the skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding behavior of the person in the control cabin. You should always go out on a work shift well rested and healthy, and before leaving for the route it is necessary to check the technical condition of vehicles. When traveling in urban conditions, it is necessary to take advantage of the lanes allocated for public transport, and when performing intercity and interregional passenger flights, observe the permitted speed limit and traffic rules.

It is important to take into account the requirements of markings, road signs and traffic lights, to be extremely careful when passing railway crossings and not to rush through them.

On Thursday, 30 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 32 young road users, including 16 passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.

On the eve of the holiday weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate urged motorists to strictly observe traffic regulations and be more attentive on the roads of settlements and cities. Special care should be taken by people driving, including female drivers, when approaching pedestrian crossings, slowing down in front of them until they come to a complete stop in order to allow pedestrians crossing the roadway. The behavior of children on the road is often unpredictable, so it is important not to rush to resume traffic even when the traffic light is clear — you should make sure that the crossing is completely free of pedestrians.

"We recommend parents to monitor the leisure time and behavior of their young children during the weekend. Not letting them go outside alone, unattended, especially in the evening. Take walks together. To improve the visibility of young pedestrians to drivers of vehicles at night, be sure to use retroreflective elements on children's outerwear," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry, told Izvestia.

The lack of parental control on the street for children of preschool and primary school age often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users, the State Traffic Inspectorate noted. In the first six days of March, 154 accidents involving children occurred in Russia, in which one child was killed and another 167 were injured.

For example, a car accident involving a dead child, who was being transported as a passenger in a passenger car, occurred on March 2 in the Yaroslavl region on a highway of regional significance. During the daytime, the driver of the crossover drove into the oncoming lane in a prohibited place, where he collided with another passenger car. The four-year-old son of the driver of the second car, who was in the back row of seats without a child restraint and was not wearing a seat belt, was killed in the accident. In addition, the driver and two other passengers from this car ended up in the hospital. The culprit of the collision himself was sent for outpatient treatment after receiving medical treatment.

The day before, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported a fundamental disagreement with fines for exceeding the average speed. Information about the alleged work of the Russian Interior Ministry on the introduction of fines for exceeding the average speed on a road section has been disseminated in a number of Telegram channels and some media outlets.
