The Kremlin announced Russia's close monitoring of the EU's rearmament plans
Potentially, the plan for the militarization of the European Union (EU) (ReArm EU) may be a topic of deep concern for Russia. This was announced on March 7 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
According to him, the Russian side is closely monitoring the development of plans for the rearmament of Europe, as the EU positions Russia as the main enemy.
"That's what militarization is all about — it happens mainly against the Russian Federation. This, of course, could potentially be a topic of our deep concern and the need to take appropriate retaliatory measures to ensure our security," he said at a briefing.
The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation also stressed that such confrontational rhetoric and the developments observed in Brussels "seriously dissonant with the mood to search for peaceful solutions around Ukraine."
