For the first time, the American B-52 strategic bomber dropped JDAM bombs at a training ground in Finland during a training test. This was announced on March 6 by the press service of the Finnish Air Force on the website.

"On March 6, bombers escorted by Finnish Air Force F/A-18 Hornet fighters dropped JDAM guided bombs on targets at the Rowayarvi training ground," the statement said.

It is noted that the Air Force has been conducting exercises with US strategic bombers in Finnish airspace since July 2024. However, this is the first time that aerial bombs have been dropped in Finland.

According to the ministry, the purpose of the landing at the Rowayarvi training ground was to practice the joint use of fire between air and army troops.

It is also specified that the targets for destruction were selected by aircraft manufacturers of the two countries, and the Finnish ground forces and the US Air Force participated.

Earlier, on February 7, Russian Ambassador to Finland Pavel Kuznetsov said that the Pentagon was using Finland to "try on" its territory as a new potential theater of military operations. This is how he commented on the demonstrative flights of American B-52 strategic bombers over Finland.
