GAC announces new Empow sports sedan in Russia

GAC has announced the imminent launch of a new Empower model on the Russian market, which will be the first sedan in the line. This is stated in the company's message, which was received by Izvestia on March 7.

The length of the GAC Empow is 4700 mm with a wheelbase of 2736 mm. The sedan will be sold in Russia with a 170 hp gasoline engine and a 7-speed preselective transmission, acceleration to 100 km/h takes 6.95 seconds.

Two exterior design versions will be available for the Russian market — the classic GS and the sportier GL. The second one features redesigned bumpers, door sill linings, a rear diffuser and dual exhaust pipes, as well as 18-inch discs and a spoiler on the trunk lid.

The top version received a specially tuned exhaust system with adjustable volume and four nozzles, the sedan also has sports settings for the engine control unit, as well as transmission and steering. The list of equipment in the maximum configuration includes dual-zone climate control, a Yamaha audio system with eight speakers.

On February 28, GAC announced the imminent launch of sales in Russia of the GS4 model, which will become the brand's third crossover. This model debuted in the Chinese market in 2024 under the name GAC GS4 Max. The length of the crossover is 4685 mm with a wheelbase of 2750 mm. The basic version has a 1.5 engine (170 hp, 250 Nm), it is aggregated by a seven-speed robotic gearbox.

On February 20, GAC unveiled a special version of the large GS8 crossover in Russia, which was named the GX Traveller. The new maximum configuration is designed for fans of autotourism and long-distance travel.
