Toyota Motor Company is recalling 2,233 Toyota Highlander cars in Russia, which were sold from November 28, 2020 to April 21, 2023. This was reported by the press service of Rosstandart. The reason for the recall was the increased risk of injury in an accident by passengers who sit in the back seats.

The recalled vehicles are equipped with separate folding seats in the second row in the 60/40 configuration, which consist of a frame containing the middle crossbar of the backrest. It is assumed that some points at the ends of the middle bar of the seat back (on the 40% side) do not have a minimum radius that meets the requirements of the UN ECE R.21. EC standard. The middle bar (including the ends) is covered with foam.

"However, if a collision occurs when the seat is retracted by 60% or 40% and the other seat is not, it is possible that the passenger in the rear of the car may touch the middle bar of the seatback frame, made with the wrong end radius, which is located under the foam. In this case, the risk of injury to passengers sitting in the back seats may increase," Rosstandart said on March 6.

Owners of such Toyota Highlanders are invited to dealerships. The seatback frame will be adjusted free of charge for the recalled vehicles.

On January 31, Kia Russia and CIS announced a recall of 29.1 thousand Kia Sportage vehicles. The reason for the recall is a possible short circuit of the electrical circuit of the ABS/ESC unit. This can lead to an excessive increase in current and increase the risk of fire in the engine compartment.

On January 27, it was reported that Havale Motor Rus was conducting a voluntary recall of 364 Chinese Tank 500 SUVs in Russia. The reason for the recall was the risk of fuel leakage at low temperatures, which could lead to increased pressure in the vehicle's fuel system.
