US President Donald Trump has called on entrepreneur and head of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk to use a "scalpel instead of an axe" when optimizing the number of employees of federal agencies.

"We say 'scalpel' instead of 'axe,'" the American leader wrote on March 7 on his page on the Truth Social network.

He stressed the need for cuts in federal agencies, while emphasizing the importance of retaining the best and most effective employees.

On March 6, it was reported that the Trump administration began laying off employees of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) en masse. These actions are aimed at reducing the number of employees on probation.

On February 28, the media reported that the United States was facing a drain of technical personnel from the government due to massive cuts initiated by DOGE.
