In the Altai Territory, a deputy was suspected of embezzling money from the budget

Sergey Matasov, a deputy of the Altai Regional Legislative Assembly, is suspected of major fraud involving fictitious employment of relatives. This was reported on March 7 in the press service of the regional SU IC.
As investigators found out, from 2021 to 2025, while serving as deputy chairman of the Standing Committee of the Altai Regional Legislative Assembly on legal policy and local government, Matasov organized fictitious employment of two of his relatives as deputies' assistants.
He also provided forged documents to the legislative Assembly and the Ministry of Finance of the region about the performance of labor functions by relatives, which they did not perform. The money transferred as payment was transferred to the deputy.
Thus, the suspect stole at least 3 million 250 thousand rubles from the regional budget.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed on an especially large scale").
On March 5, the FSB of Russia detained a group involved in illegal banking activities in the Zaporizhia region. The attackers acted without a license, receiving over 12 million rubles as a result.
