South Korean court overturns arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-young

A South Korean court has cancelled the arrest warrant for the President of the republic, Yun Seok-young. This was reported on March 6 by the Yonhap news agency.
"Yun Seok-yeol was released from custody after the court granted his request to cancel his arrest due to the short—term imposition of martial law," the article says.
According to the agency, in February, the head of state filed a petition with the Seoul Central District Court, calling the indictment for declaring martial law in South Korea illegal.
On January 26, the republic's prosecutor's office charged Yun Seok-yeol with organizing a rebellion.
The situation in the republic worsened in early December 2024 after the president declared martial law. He cited the threat of paralysis of power due to attempts to carry out impeachment proceedings as the reason. The commander of the emergency regime, Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces Park Ahn-soo noted that until the lifting of martial law in the country, the activities of the parliament of political parties and associations are prohibited.
Yoon Seok-young was arrested for 48 hours on January 15 of this year, during which time the court had to decide on further detention. The Seoul Western District Court on January 19 (January 18, Moscow time) issued a decision to detain the president, after which his supporters staged a pogrom.
