Sergei Sobyanin told what the Metallurg stadium will look like after reconstruction

This year, the reconstruction of the home stadium of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University — Metallurg starts. This was announced on Friday, March 7, by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in his personal blog.

Metallurg was built at the beginning of the 20th century for the workers of the Hammer and Sickle factory. The legends of Soviet sports trained here: brothers Georgy and Serafim Znamensky, hockey players Alexander Yakushev and Gennady Krylov and the great Konstantin Beskov," the statement said.

A multi-purpose game arena with artificial grass and heating will be created on the site of the old football field. It will be possible to play not only football, but also rugby.

A central square will be organized on the territory of the stadium – a place for walks, meetings and mass events: celebrations, awards and concerts.

Earlier it was reported that seven former industrial zones will be reorganized in the south-east of Moscow under the KRT program. These are 184 hectares of land, which include Karacharovo, Sickle and Hammer, Volgogradsky Prospekt, Yuzhny Port, Grayvoronovo, Kuryanovo and Vykhino.
