The expert noted that prostate cancer often does not manifest itself in the early stages. So, the first symptoms — frequent and difficult urination, blood in the urine — can begin when the tumor has already reached a large size and has gone beyond the prostate.
"The asymptomatic course of many urological and andrological diseases poses a serious danger. The time lost at the beginning of the development of the disease can lead to irreversible consequences and significantly reduce the quality of life," Bogatyrev warned.
Male diseases such as testicular cancer, varicocele (dilation of the veins of the spermatic cord), sexually transmitted infections, hypogonadism and prostate adenoma are also asymptomatic, the doctor said.
In this regard, he recommended that Russians regularly appear for preventive examinations by specialists. According to Bogatyrev, this is especially true for men over 40 years old.
The doctor also advised to lead a proper lifestyle, monitor nutrition, exercise and give up bad habits.
"Perform a self-examination of the testicles to detect seals or swellings in a timely manner. If you experience any, even minor, changes in urination or sexual functions, consult a doctor immediately," Bogatyrev concluded.
