Hungarian Prime Minister Orban pointed to the high cost of supporting Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on March 6 that it was very expensive to support the Ukrainian army and the country. The recording of the appeal was posted on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist in Russia and banned).
He also agreed with US President Donald Trump that EU countries should allocate a larger percentage of GDP to their own defense.
"First of all, we need to spend more money on building up our own military potential and defense capability, but at the same time, someone has to finance the Ukrainian army, and the Americans will no longer participate in this," Orban said, adding that financing Ukraine for "all three packages is already too much.".
The day before, French President Emmanuel Macron said in an address that he intends to discuss the use of nuclear weapons in order to protect the entire European Union. He also called on the EU to provide itself with the largest amount of military equipment and build up defense capabilities "for the sake of peace itself."
