An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred in China near the border with Kazakhstan


An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 was recorded in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, the Altai-Sayan branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported on March 7.
Underground seismic activity was recorded at 21:42 Moscow time. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a distance of approximately 366 km from the state border of Kazakhstan.
It is reported that earthquakes regularly occur in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, as well as the regions bordering it in other countries.
On February 28, an earthquake of magnitude 3.0 was recorded in Sakhalin. It is noted that the tremors were felt by residents of the villages of Ado-Tymovo and Chir-Unvd. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties or damage. The situation is being monitored by employees of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations.
