The Marshal Ustinov missile cruiser of the Northern Fleet conducted missile and artillery firing in the Barents Sea. This was announced on March 7 by the press service of the Northern Fleet (SF).

It is specified that during the exercises, artillery firing was carried out at coastal targets on the coast of the Rybachy Peninsula at a distance of more than 15 km using the ship's main caliber, the AK-130 artillery installation.

The combat crew of the Osa-MA2 anti-aircraft missile system, during the repulse of a simulated attack by enemy means of attack, launched practical anti-aircraft missiles at air targets. Anti-aircraft missiles were also fired at a surface target, which was a naval target.

"Weather conditions, visibility conditions, and sea conditions have absolutely no effect on the effectiveness of using the complex, since the complex has several antennas that emit waves despite rain and snow. The waves literally scan the surrounding environment and give the operator and the crew an accurate understanding of the targets in the air or on the surface of the sea," said Nikita, commander of the Marshal Ustinov anti—aircraft missile battery.

During the anti-submarine exercise, which took place in a bilateral format, the sailors of the cruiser promptly detected and classified an underwater target, a simulated enemy, which was played by one of the nuclear submarines of the Northern Fleet.

At the final stage of the exercise, the crew of the cruiser practiced an attack by a simulated enemy submarine using anti-submarine weapons systems against a simulated underwater target. The shooting was carried out with jet depth charges and a practical homing electric torpedo.

At sea, training was also conducted on the defense of the ship when parked in an unprotected raid. Special attention was paid to countering unmanned boats and other robotic systems of a simulated enemy.

As part of the training on the protection of coastal facilities and the defense of the Northern Fleet bases, on February 5, a separate missile brigade trained the divisions of the Bal and Bastion coastal missile systems. According to the training task, the simulated enemy was preparing to launch a missile attack on the coastal infrastructure of the Northern Fleet on the Kola Peninsula.
