US President Donald Trump has signed a decree freezing US aid to the Republic of South Africa (RSA). This was reported on March 6 by The Guardian newspaper.

The directive, issued on Thursday, implements Executive Order 14204, which targets what the administration called South Africa's "egregious actions." He orders all departments of the State Department to immediately suspend aid payments, with minimal exceptions," the newspaper reports.

It is clarified that the reason for this decision was the dissatisfaction of the American president with cases of "unfair discrimination" of white South Africans — descendants of Dutch colonialists — by the authorities of the republic.

American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk, who was born in South Africa, also condemned the country for its "openly racist policies."

"This is the latest sign of escalating tensions between the two generally friendly countries, which began with President Trump accusing South Africa of using its new land law to discriminate against white citizens. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa dismissed these claims as disinformation," the newspaper points out.

Earlier, on March 5, the US Supreme Court refused to suspend payments to foreign organizations to Trump. It is noted that the administration was given until February 26 to pay out almost $2 billion in financing. At the same time, it was reported that payments could take weeks to be credited. It is indicated that at the moment the court has not provided any legal justification for its actions.
