The White House is encouraged by the signals from Kiev, but the decision to suspend aid remains in force. This was announced on March 6 by the head of the US Department of Defense, Pete Hegseth, answering questions from media representatives.

"We are very encouraged by the signs that we see. Ultimately, he [US President Donald Trump] will make a decision, but for now it's (Assistance to Ukraine. — Ed.) on pause," the Anadolu Ajansı agency quotes him as saying.

The head of the Pentagon noted that the United States expects Ukraine to truly strive for a peaceful settlement. According to him, Trump is closely following what is being said and done in Kiev regarding this process.

Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, responding to a question from Izvestia, said that the suspension of military aid to Ukraine from the United States could help quickly end the Ukrainian conflict. He also noted that the Russian state is ready for an honest conversation on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. According to him, it is important for Moscow to ensure its own security.
