Hegseth called criticism of the American position on Russia "garbage".

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth called criticism of the U.S. position on Russia "garbage." This was reported on March 6 by the Reuters news agency.
"The press is interested in narratives. Our president [US President Donald Trump] is interested in peace. Therefore, we will be characterized one way or another: "Oh, your position is pro—Russian," it's all garbage," the publication quotes Hegseth as saying.
The Pentagon chief added that Trump is committed to a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, the head of state is working with both sides to achieve these goals.
On March 6, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant announced that the United States would be ready to "go all in" and impose new sanctions on the Russian energy industry in order to end the conflict in Ukraine. He added that the new Trump administration intends to use economic sanctions "unambiguously and aggressively," which can help achieve maximum effect in a short time.
