- The number of butterflies in the United States has decreased by 22% since the beginning of the 21st century.

The butterfly population in the United States has declined by 22% since the beginning of the 21st century. This was reported on Friday, March 7, by the journal Science, citing research.
Thus, 76,000 studies conducted by various groups documenting millions of butterflies representing 554 species have shown that their numbers have decreased by 22% from 2000 to 2020.
It clarifies that scientists attribute the decline to factors such as habitat loss, pesticide use and climate change.
Earlier, on November 23, 2024, it was reported that the United States would add giraffes to the list of endangered animals for the first time. The United States Fish and Wildlife Service hopes that the initiative will put an end to poaching. It is noted that carpets, pillowcases, shoes, and furniture are made from giraffe skin in the country.
