Ukraine is unlikely to be able to return the Starlink Internet access terminals leased from other countries, developed by the SpaceX company of American billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk. This was announced on March 6 by The Washington Post (WP).

"The terminals have been officially leased to Ukraine, although it is unlikely that they will be returned," the newspaper reports.

According to official estimates, Ukraine has secured 47,000 terminals in total since the beginning of the conflict in 2022, WP clarifies. Of these, 24.5 thousand were provided by Poland, 10 thousand by Germany, 5 thousand were supplied by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other donors, including SpaceX itself.

Thus, the vast majority of Starlink terminals in Ukraine are not provided by the United States, the newspaper points out.

Earlier that day, a military analyst spoke about the capabilities of the Russian Armed Forces when Starlink was turned off in Ukraine. During this period, intelligence and communications in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will be vulnerable, and this is a good chance for the Russian army to advance and put pressure on the enemy.
