US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant said that the United States would be ready to "go all in" and impose new sanctions on the Russian energy industry in order to end the conflict in Ukraine. He made the corresponding statement on March 6 during a speech at the Economic Club of New York.

"The current administration has maintained enhanced sanctions and will not hesitate to go all-in if it provides leverage in peace negotiations," the minister said.

He also added that the new administration of US President Donald Trump intends to use economic sanctions "unambiguously and aggressively," which can help achieve maximum effect in a short time.

Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said there were no discussions between the Russian Federation and the United States on the lifting of sanctions. She stressed that Moscow has repeatedly warned that restrictions are destructive and illegitimate.
