The United States has already informed Russia about the possible composition of its delegation to the negotiations on Ukraine. This was announced on March 6 by Stephen Witkoff, the special envoy of the American president for the Middle East.

He said he had discussed the composition of the negotiating team with White House National Security Adviser Mike Waltz.

"We contacted the Russians. We will also notify the Ukrainians," Witkoff said during a conversation with reporters at the White House.

The Special Representative added that the American delegation plans to meet with representatives of Ukraine in Saudi Arabia next week. According to him, the parties will discuss the basics of a peaceful settlement of the conflict and a six-month ceasefire.

Earlier, on March 5, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that following the meetings of the delegations of Russia and the United States, certain denouements had already been outlined. At the same time, she added that there are no specific contacts between the countries on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine yet.

The first negotiations between the delegations of Russia and the United States took place in one of the palaces of the royal family in Riyadh on Tuesday, February 18. At the end of the meeting, the US State Department announced that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had agreed to appoint high-level negotiating teams to begin work on resolving the Ukrainian conflict.

Later, on February 27, a meeting of the Russian and US delegations took place in Istanbul. It lasted more than six hours and was dedicated to the work of the diplomatic missions of the two states in Washington and Moscow.
