Putin couldn't contain his emotions after telling his mother about his heroically deceased son

Russian President Vladimir Putin could not contain his emotions after an employee of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation told about the feat of her deceased son, Corporal Kirill Shumakov. The Head of State met with the employees and wards of the organization on March 6.

The woman said that her son was performing tasks in the special operation zone as part of a special forces unit. Together with his comrades, he went out to a height and took fire on himself to mark the enemy's firing point. The feat of the military made it possible to subsequently reduce unit losses.

The president could hardly find the words and took a pause to respond to Shumakov's mother.

"It's hard for me to comment. Guys, of course, are heroes, what can I say, consciously when they go to their deaths to save the lives of their comrades," Putin said.

He added that such feats are largely possible only in Russia.

"I made a decision and called the fire on myself."

On the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day, the participants of the SSO spoke about their combat work

Earlier in the day, the head of state met with Olga Chebnev, the widow of Hero of Russia Sergei Chebnev. He presented her with the Gold Star medal, which her deceased husband was awarded posthumously. Putin noted that the award was awarded to Chebnev for the fact that he and his comrades prevented the movement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the Kursk NPP.
