Lithuania offers the European Union (EU) to provide over €40 billion a year in aid to Ukraine. This was announced to journalists on March 6 by the President of the country, Gitanas Nauseda.

According to him, Lithuania supports Ukraine annually and transfers 0.25% of its GDP to it.

"We calculated that if other countries had committed to pay the same amount, Ukraine would have received 43 billion euros," the LRT portal quoted him as saying.

Nauseda added that Kiev now "really needs" such an amount.

In late February, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto said that EU countries want to provide Ukraine with a military aid package consisting of €20-40 billion and an "unimaginable" amount of weapons. He stressed that Budapest does not support the idea of uniting to spend billions of euros belonging to Europeans on the continuation of the conflict, while citizens have hope for a peaceful settlement.
