Norwegian skier Johannes Klebo has set a world record for the total number of gold medals at the men's Ski World Championships. It happened on March 6th.
He won the relay championship at the 2025 World Championships in Trondheim as part of the Norwegian national team. The 28-year-old athlete thus won his 14th gold medal at the World Championships.
In addition, Klebo beat his compatriot Petter Northug, who won 13 medals.
The second place was taken by skiers from Switzerland, and the third place was won by the Swedes, adds Sport-Express. The World Ski Racing Championships will last until March 9th.
In January 2023, Klebo broke the record of Russians Sergey Ustyugov and Alexander Bolshunov for the number of consecutive victories at the stages of the multi-day Tour de Ski. He ran the course in 39 minutes and 59.2 seconds, which was the sixth consecutive victory for the Norwegian skier at the stages of the Tour de Ski.
