Only 11% of Russians said they had no plans to abandon the Chinese car industry.
21% of Russians are waiting for the return of Korean car brands. This follows from the results of a survey conducted by the financial marketplace <url>, which Izvestia reviewed on March 7. At the same time, 11% of respondents said they would not abandon the Chinese car industry.
In total, 2.5 thousand car owners participated in the study. It turned out that those 21% who are waiting for the return of brands from South Korea have been postponing the purchase of a new car since manufacturers from that country left the market. Another 2% have already managed to buy a Chinese car, but intend to sell it and buy a Korean one.
At the same time, 5% of the survey participants reported that they would like to buy a Korean car, but they can no longer, since they are now paying off a loan for a car manufacturer from China, and 14% said they already have a Korean car.
In addition, 11% of the surveyed respondents noted that during the sanctions they managed to get into the car industry from China and do not plan to abandon the purchased cars. At the same time, 47% of this group noted that they like the cost of Chinese cars. Another 23% said that they get more functionality than in cars of the same price category, but in other manufacturing countries, 21% admitted that design was the decisive factor, 9% — adaptability.
The remaining survey participants (26%) reported that they drive exclusively European cars, while 21% drive Russian cars.
The analytical agency Autostat reported on March 6 that 78,040 new passenger cars were sold in Russia in February. This is 24.9% less than in February 2024. Lada remains the most popular car brand, with its share rising to 31%. According to Autostat, 24,573 cars of this brand were registered in February, which is 14.3% less than last year.
