Industry and export development to be discussed at Russian-Chinese Forum

Industrial cooperation and localization of production, cooperation in the transport, energy, tourism sectors, as well as the integration of the development of the Russian and Chinese parts of Bolshaya Ussuriyskaya Island will be discussed at the first Russian-Chinese Forum, which will be held in Khabarovsk on May 19-20. The event will be held under the slogan "Bolshoy Ussuriysky: cooperation in the joint development of the island." The operator is the Roscongress Foundation.
"The joint development of the territory of Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island is one of the areas of bilateral relations between Russia and China. This is separately reflected in the joint statement of the countries following the results of Vladimir Putin's state visit to China in May 2024. The need to create a roadmap for the island's development is also fixed in the list of presidential instructions following the results of the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum – 2024. The Russian-Chinese forum will be another step towards forming common approaches to work in the territory of Bolshoy Ussuriysky on the basis of good neighborliness and respect for the sovereign interests of states, and will also emphasize the desire for economic and humanitarian cooperation," said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of Russia.
Representatives of federal and regional authorities, entrepreneurs from Russia and China will take part in the discussions of the Forum. The program will also include thematic sessions on cooperation in such areas as the development of export prospects for small and medium-sized businesses, creative industries, medicine, culture and others. B2B negotiations between Russian and Chinese businessmen will take place within two days. In addition, it is planned to hold joint events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of twinning relations between the Khabarovsk Territory and Heilongjiang Province.
"Khabarovsk Krai, as a border region, plays an important role in strengthening Russian-Chinese relations. The island of Bolshoy Ussuriysky is of key importance in this process. We pay great attention to the development of road and border infrastructure. In addition, the preferential treatment of the Khabarovsk TOR will be extended to the territory of the island. This will attract investors for the development of its Russian part. Within the framework of the forum, we are ready to discuss new projects with the Chinese side – this is of strategic importance for the region and the country as a whole, and is also an example of how Russia and China can jointly implement large–scale initiatives, strengthening trust and cooperation between the countries," said Dmitry Demeshin, Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory.
Currently, active preparations are underway for the regional infrastructure and venues of the Forum.
"Cooperation between Russia and China is multi-vector and takes into account the specifics of the border regions of the two countries. The forum in the Khabarovsk Territory will be aimed at developing industrial cooperation and direct contacts between entrepreneurs. I am convinced that it will occupy an important place in the Roscongress Foundation's line of events aimed at accelerating the development of the macroregion. The results of the discussions can be taken into account when shaping the agenda of the anniversary Eastern Economic Forum, which will be held on September 3-6 in Vladivostok," said Igor Pavlov, First Deputy Director of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the Eastern Economic Forum.
The organizers of the Russian-Chinese Forum are the Government of the Khabarovsk Territory, the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, JSC Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic.
