Russia and the United States are not discussing the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions. This was stated on March 6 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at a briefing.

"We do not speak out or discuss the issue of lifting sanctions. We didn't introduce them to ourselves. We have always said that they have a destructive, unauthorized character and primarily target those who invented them and who introduced them," Zakharova said.

Sanctions are not legitimate if they have not passed the UN Security Council, the diplomat added.

The Reuters news agency reported on March 3 that the White House is studying plans for a possible lifting of sanctions against Russia. According to sources, the agencies are currently preparing a proposal to lift restrictions on certain legal entities and individuals so that US representatives can discuss it with their Russian counterparts in the coming days as part of negotiations to improve diplomatic and economic relations.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov recalled on March 4 that so far no one in the US administration has made official statements that Washington is going to lift sanctions against Moscow.
