The gynecologist spoke about the method for the diagnosis and treatment of intrauterine pathologies

Hysteroscopy is one of the most informative and effective procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of intrauterine pathologies. The method allows you to examine the uterine cavity and accurately remove pathological formations, avoiding more traumatic operations, Vladimir Komagorov, gynecologist at the medical center of Dr. Alexandrovsky, told Izvestia on March 8.

"With the help of a thin optical device — a hysteroscope — the condition of the endometrium is assessed, polyps, fibroids, adhesions, hyperplastic processes and precancerous changes are diagnosed. If a pathology is detected, it is immediately eliminated, which makes the procedure not only diagnostic, but also therapeutic," he said.

According to the expert, hysteroscopy also helps to eliminate the consequences of abortions or miscarriages.

He noted that the method is recommended for abnormal uterine bleeding, suspected polyps, endometrial hyperplasia, uterine fibroids, as well as infertility, habitual miscarriages, pain, adhesions in the uterine cavity and suspected endometrial cancer.

"But it is better to postpone the procedure during pregnancy, acute inflammatory diseases, exacerbation of infections, such as herpes or chlamydia, as well as in cases of cervical cancer with invasive growth," Komagorov emphasized.

After the procedure, it is better to avoid physical exertion, do not take hot baths, do not go to the sauna and abstain from sexual activity, the doctor added.

Earlier, on February 21, Anastasia Sokolova, a gynecologist at the SM Clinic Center for Reproductive Health, told Izvestia which foods are recommended to be excluded or limited during pregnancy. These include raw or undercooked meat, fish, and eggs. Their danger lies in the fact that they can contain bacteria and parasites that can cause serious illnesses and lead to miscarriage or premature birth.
