The policy of the European Union (EU) and Ukraine threatens the energy security of Hungary and Slovakia. This was announced on March 6 by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto.

"It is outrageous that the European Commission sided with Ukraine instead of representing the interests of the member states. The European Commission has provided us with four guarantees of energy security, but two of them have already been violated, so it's clear to everyone that we can only rely on ourselves," he wrote on Facebook (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).

Szijjarto noted that under these conditions Budapest and Bratislava have established closer energy cooperation than ever before. In particular, according to him, Slovakia has already purchased more than half a billion cubic meters of gas through Hungary in 2025.

"We have achieved that Russian oil products processed in Bratislava can be used in Hungary, and <...We are fighting together against ... discrimination against nuclear energy," the minister added.

Earlier, on March 2, Szijjarto said that Brussels violated two guarantees that it gave Budapest in the field of energy security. First, according to him, the EU promised to hold negotiations on the resumption of transit of Russian gas through the territory Ukraine with the participation of the Hungarian side, however, this did not happen.

Secondly, as the Hungarian Foreign Minister noted, Brussels guaranteed that Kiev would not attack the infrastructure responsible for energy supplies to Europe. However, contrary to the assurances of the European Union, on the night of February 28, drones of the Kiev regime attacked the Russian compressor station of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline.
