Australia is preparing for a rare tropical cyclone Alfred on the east coast, which is approaching Brisbane, the country's third most populous city. Residents are lining their houses with sand and stocking up on food. The agency wrote about it Reuters.

According to the latest data from the Bureau of Meteorology, the cyclone may make landfall near Brisbane by the morning of March 8. The storm will cover the border regions of Queensland and New South Wales, causing heavy rains, flooding and damaging winds.
