The words of the Minister of Defense USA Pete Hegseth's readiness for war with China provokes confrontation. This was announced on March 6 at a briefing by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian.

According to Jiang, Hegseth's statements that they do not seek war with China, but will be ready for it, "deliberately provoke ideological confrontation and inflate the topic of the Chinese threat."

"China's position is clear and consistent: whether it's a tariff or trade war, a cold or hot war, nothing will come of it, it cannot be won," Jiang is quoted as saying on the official website.https://www.fmprc.gov.cn/fyrbt_673021/jzhsl_673025/202503/t20250306_11569534.shtml " target="_blank">on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.

Earlier, on March 5 , China has expressed readiness for "any type of war" with the United States against the background of new duties. The Chinese embassy also noted that if the United States wants to solve the problems with fentanyl, the right decision for Washington would be to consult with Beijing on an equal footing.

The American president Donald Trump on March 4th doubled import duties on goods from China from 10% to 20%, accusing Beijing of failing to combat drug trafficking. According to him, the failure of the Chinese government to take measures to curb the steady influx of opioids, including fentanyl, into the United States poses an unusual threat, the source of which is largely located outside the United States.
