Russia will continue to assist African countries in increasing their combat capability to counter the threats of various forms of crime and terrorism. This was announced on March 6 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"As the Russian Federation, we will continue to contribute to the efforts of the international community to help stabilize and resolve conflicts on the African continent," he said at a press conference following the talks in Moscow with Zimbabwe's Foreign Minister Amon Murvira.

Russia will continue to increase its assistance, in particular, in training military personnel and strengthening law enforcement agencies to enhance the ability of African friends to combat the threats of terrorism, drug trafficking and organized crime in the region.

Lavrov also pointed out that the Russian side will remain committed to the point of view on the need for independent conflict resolution by African countries with the assistance of relevant continental bodies.

On February 11, Mikhail Bogdanov, Special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister, told Izvestia that Moscow I am ready to help strengthen the African states' own anti-crisis potential. He added that the Russian Federation conducts annual training courses for African peacekeepers.
