The Ministry of Construction told about the project of a multi-storey house on a steel frame

A multi-storey residential building project has been developed using a steel frame as the main supporting structures of the building. Currently, this design solution is being evaluated by the state expertise for subsequent inclusion in the register of standard design documentation. It is expected that such a decision will open up new prospects in housing construction, the press service of the Ministry of Construction told Izvestia on March 6.

The new steel-framed construction technology promises to be a breakthrough in housing construction. It will reduce the project implementation time by 30% and reduce the number of specialists on the construction site by 25%. This is especially true for regions with a short construction season.

"To ensure the technological sovereignty of our country, improve the quality of life of citizens and implement the national project Infrastructure for Life, aimed at achieving the development goals of the Russian Federation outlined by the President, the Russian Ministry of Construction is implementing a roadmap to improve the regulatory framework for the design of residential and social facilities, expanding the use of steel in civil engineering. We are carrying out systematic work in this area of construction and see great potential for development," said Irek Fayzullin, Minister of Construction and Housing of the Russian Federation.

In 2024, the roadmap was updated taking into account the proposals of the FAA "FCC" and the Association for the Development of Steel Construction. As part of the project, a standard design of a 17-storey residential building has been developed, which uses welded I-beams made of high-strength steel and quick-assembly wall panels. These solutions make it possible to speed up installation, reduce the load on the foundation and minimize "wet" processes on the construction site.

"The steel frame ensures the predictability and stability of the financial model of the facility under construction. It guarantees the involvement of contractors for the design, production of metal structures and construction and installation work in any region of the Russian Federation, as well as the cost of the volume of metal supplied for the manufacture of metal structures for each specific facility," concluded Mikhail Sokolov, Director of Steel Construction at Severstal.
