In Primorsky Krai, near the Land of the Leopard National Park, a large wildfire was extinguished, which threatened the ecosystem of the park. The staff of the reserve, together with specialists from the KGB Primorsky Aviation Protection and Forest Protection Base, stopped the spread of fire deep into the specially protected natural area.

As specified by IA PrimaMedia with reference to the press service of the national park, a fire broke out at the Pozharsky railway station in the Khasansky district. The fire spread rapidly through the dry vegetation due to the strong wind. Part of the national park's territory was affected.

More than 45 people, including employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, were fighting the fire. It took about six hours to extinguish. According to preliminary data, the fire area exceeded 90 hectares, of which 40 hectares are the lands of the reserve. Damage to rare species of animals, including the Far Eastern leopard, was prevented.

The causes of the fire have not yet been determined. Natural factors and human actions are considered.

Earlier, on March 4, it was reported that almost 100 fires occurred in Primorsky Krai during the day. Three fires were recorded on the lands of the forest fund. The area of forest fires was 92 hectares.
