The head of one of them shared that the decision to create the group was made several months ago, when the situation was critical.

A drone detector is installed on the chest of each member of the special forces, which constantly emits a signal. The military knows the sound of each drone and its shape.

"The task of the Ornithologists is to track the drone and shoot it down before it flies anywhere," said Izvestia correspondent Stanislav Grigoriev.

A law enforcement officer with the call sign Bumblebee told about an incident when an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) The APU struck the gas cylinder of the bus. As a result, the vehicle burned down. According to him, after the mass shooting, the drones began to fly more carefully and higher, and it also became more difficult for them to reach their targets.

He stressed that it was thanks to the "Ornithologists" that passers-by reappeared on the outskirts of the city.

Lyudmila, a local resident, said that drones fly over the territories regularly. According to her, attempts to attack using UAVs are aimed at people and civilian vehicles. At the same time, the military clarified that the enemy begins to enter more actively when the equipment is not visible.
